    I don't believe you can put a top 10 protected rule on a pick thats not yours, but ive been wrong before.

    Also why on gods green earth would detroit trade a 2 for a goalie that they dont need under any circumstances

    We did it just this past draft with the Canes pick. If either or both picks were in the top 10 it was the later pick that Arizona would have gotten.

    But that is different than top 10 protected because conditions were met it was set up to give up a pick of slightly less value. So if it's a top 10 pick Winnipeg gets Montreal's 2024 1st round pick would work and meet league rules.

    Detroit isn't giving up a 2nd for Allen they don't need a goalie.
