Is Bernier done for sure this year? If so you can put him on LTIR and get $4 mill more cap space

I am not a huge fan of the Palat signing, but Jesus is this team deep.

Fitz picked his spot.

not sure, fitzy couldn't even give us a timeline on a return. Although we are a bit tight on the cap this year, we have a lot of expiring contracts. I'd imagine this is Severson's last season as a Devil with the acquisition of Marino and Nemec most likely being NHL ready in 2023-24, could be the same with Graves with Luke most likely coming up towards the end of the year. Only guys getting paydays next year are Sharangovich and Siegenthaler.

Severson is almost guaranteed as gine after the year imo. Graves however...... depending on the demands, I would want him hanging around..... even with Hughes coming. A guy that can rather easily be moved 2-3 years from now depending in the money and term being sought.

Oh I would absolutely want to keep Graves too, it just depends what his next contract is asking for. Obviously depends on how he plays next year. If he plays the same way this upcoming season like he did this past season, personally I would not give him anything over $4M.

If you are assessing Graves play as that poor, Inwould move him. You get a replace LD and then some. Not that I would. Devils failed to meet my expectations last year in a big way - injuries played a small roll, but the goaltending was, well, ugh.

With the latter hopefully shored up, and the Metro not getting significantly better in relation to what Fitz did, they should challenge for a playoff spot.

If they fall out, Severson, Graves, Tatar and Johnsson all garner serious assets. Severson amd Graves possibly 1st round picks.

Fitz has set this up well.
