What do Isles fans think

Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 21, 2022
Published: Jul. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming an extension is in place for Miller. NYI get a big offensive boost with Miller in their top 6. The main cost is Pulock but VAN also trades Myers to NYI to help insulate Dobson for 2 more seasons. NYI probably let Myers walk after that with pay rises due for Romanov and Dobson.

Terrible trade for NY. Myers is a negative asset and Pulock is worth more than Miller.

Haha there's no way Pulock is worth more than Miller. I think you can forget trading for Miller unless you are giving up something worthwhile. NYI will continue to struggle to score next season as they haven't done anything to address this issue.

And Myers is a negative asset? He performed better than Pulock last season. Myers was +15, Pulock was +0.

Myers at ES:
17 pts
QoC corsi for % = 0.226 (i.e. played against tougher competition)
oZs = 46%
oiGF/60 = 2.5
oiGA/60 = 2.1
Net oiGF/60 = +0.4

Pulock at ES:
14 pts
QoC corsi for % = 0.028 (i.e. played against less tough competition than Myers)
oZs = 43%
oiGF/60 = 2.8
oiGA/60 = 2.6
Net oiGF/60 = +0.2

Pulock was hurt most of last year. Isles aren’t interested.

Miller isn’t worth more. That’s an ignorant answer from someone who would prefer an expiring forward about to enter a steep decline to a cost controlled top pair righty d man.

There's nothing ignorant about my answer. Miller is only 18 months older than Pulock and Pulock is just about to play his 1st season of an 8 year contract. But I get that you don't like the trade. No big deal.

My point still stands that NYI has really done nothing to improve their scoring since last season. Good luck in 2022-23.

The backend is stronger so the offense will be better 🤷‍♂️

There’s no way you’re serious about comparing Pulock to Tyler Myers lol

Pulock has had the impact of an above average top pair D over the past 3 seasons. Myers has been a #5 D at best.

Pulock is starting an 8 year deal in his age 28 season. The contract is also below market value. JT miller wants 8-8.5 mill on a 7 year deal starting in his age 30 season.

The isles struggled to score because they had two 40 year old pylons on the defense last season, not because of their forwards

Ok I am glad you think that was the reason for not being able to score. BTW no one know what Miller is looking for in a contract, so you are just guessing. He appears to fit the NYI age range perfectly. I would expect NYI to be throwing everything at it to win now while their players are at their peak but never mind. Keep trying.

When you have Chara playing close to 20 min a night it’s hard to consistently move the puck up the ice. As a Canucks fan you should know what it’s like to have pylons on defense.

It actually has been reported Miller wants close to 8 mill over 7 years.

Ironic how you think your proposed trade is a win now move. It’s what you want to see happen, it’s just one of the lopsided trades ive seen on this site. Myers is a replacement level defenseman, Pulock is an elite top pair defenseman. Wahlstrom ranks top 3 among all isles forwards in most offensive analytics over the past two seasons, isles aren’t trading a player who’s skillset compliments their 1st line center

The best is you try to make an argument why the isles should trade for Miller and at the same time state that Myers should play on the top pair of a team that wants to contend. Just an insane lack of understanding of what Myers impact is. As currently constructed Without any trades, Myers wouldn’t even make the isles opening night starting lineup, but he should play on the top pair….yikes
