Calculated effort, but I’m not sure CGY accepts without one of Wallinder or Edvinsson, considering they are the top two prospects.

If they wanted Bertuzzi, an extension would need to be in place and they would want another good NHL piece with draft picks in order to compete.

With his status, Bert isn’t as desirable.

Bertuzzi seems like a difficult player and Calgary isn't going to want that gamble. Raymond, and a 1st seems more likely.

It’s tough because only CGY knows if they want to tear it down and rebuild or compete. Even with two possible 40 goal scorers out, the Flames still have a lot to run with lol. Has there been any indication of which direction the team is looking to go? (any flames fans)

Honestly, it depends on the return for Tkachuk. If they get Bratt or Kyrou from NJ or ST Louis respectively, and some picks, their team can still make the playoffs and draft well next year, which is supposed to be a deep draft. Calgarys farm is thin outside of Wolf, Pelletier, Cornato and Zary. Hard to embrace a full rebuild when you still have the rest of the core signed at reasonable contracts in a flat cap. I'd say they plug the holes and give one of the kids a shot next year.

That’s fair, so they do have the luxury of getting some potential win now pieces as well as some future assets to improve the prospect pool.
