Why would the Islanders trade a young player they see developing into a 25-30 goal scorer for a 30 year old 2nd pairing defenseman when they just got a younger, likely cheaper 2nd pairing LD?

Additionally, the Nelson trade is honestly laughable, he was the best goal scorer on the team last season by far.
