Islanders aren’t trading Mat Barzal. That being said if they were going to do so you would probably have to send a top center prospect to close the deal. That means the isles would ask for Cozens. Hell they may even ask for Cozens, Krebs and Savoie even tho it isn’t reasonable lol.

Thats fair and for sure I could see islanders pushing for long term deal with barzal, I saw a previous AGM and the comments indicated starts with Quinn so thats kinda how i structured it. Again a little wonky especially since one of barzal thompson or bedard will be your third line center for the next 5 years at least.

For next year or the year this team would play? I created it based off of getting bedard lol so a lot would have to go wrong for that to be the case. In my own opinion I dont see the sabres being as low as 5th last but I dont see them much higher than 12th last

I’m curious to see if Bedard ends up on the wing tbh. I’m not saying he can’t center but if he landed somewhere like Buffalo they would probably have to move him there.

This current season. I think the Sabres are criminally underrated right now because they have not done anything reactionary or crazy in trades or free agency.

I could see this, only thing for me is if you have a guy who has the potential to be generational, I would have to try him at center I think

Yes I agree, this is totally hypothetical and worst case scenario. Where I currently see them finishing it would not be possible to draft bedard

Barzal is not getting traded and will most likely be extended this offseason by Lou if he has not already been and just waiting to announce the contract in September like he did last year with Pulock.

With that being said Isles would not have interest in Johnson as they are set at LD, or Luukkonen as they have their franchise goalie.

A hypothetical package would be:

Cozens
Kulich
1st (2023)- Top 5 protected.

You cannot acquire a player like Barzal without given up pieces that are painful to trade.
