Trades are fine. Only bad deal here is signing Kadri for 8.25x5

Monahan is borderline healthy already it sounds like. Any Kadri move requiires a Monahan/Lucic trade. Pelletier should crack the line up this year, more space in the middle 6 for him to make an impact.

It felt like a lot, imagine he returns to COL unless he gets a decent amount more from another team. Also debated trading for a cheaper middle 6 C with term. Someone like DVORAK

How do people feel with Monahan as 2/3C?

I'm a fan of saving some cap space, but TOR already has a log jam at LD, and still have their own young defenseman to sign.

Kadri was on a stacked team last year and put up number above his average. Most players (over 90%) decline at 28. 5 years of Kadri playing his style of play is going to ensure decline. I'd be more comfortable taking Coture or hertls contracts from the Sharks if only because of age.

Value is no where near correct. Valimaki is a non nhl defender at this point. Flames don't really line up as a trade partner. We are looking for the same thing. Top 6 winger. Leafs would be happy to move kerfoot to the flames. Maybe a pick and a worthless prospect to even out contracts. Valimaki can still be included in that sense but leafs would be taking on cap and would still need a 2nd or 3rd.

If he starts the season at 3C I don't think the Flames are in a bad place, I would love to see him return to form a little bit giving Calgary the top Lindholm line a Coleman Backlund shut down line and a Monahan/Toffoli scoring line. IF the Flames were to go after Kadri, Backlund would be a perfect 3C as I think he's stretched a little thin as a 2C and Monahan would have to move.

A line of Pelletier - Monahan - Dube could be a ton of fun, sheltered minutes, two guys that are dogs on the puck and Monahan to shoot.
