Canucks decline. Nylander is too soft of a player, especially in their series against Tampa

It would be dumb not to take this trade on Vancouvers part. Nylander is the better player and younger. Some issues though is that Canucks are trying to clear cap space to sign Klingberg and this pushes so many wingers down in the depth chart. No way Boeser is on the third line.

JT Miller WILL NOT get you William Nylander. Nylander is younger, has more term, and is entering his prime. Miller is older, going to regress and is a UFA after the 2022-23 season. Why in the world would the Leafs give up on a star player entering his prime, for a player who will regress and be severely overpaid. Nylander is exactly the player the leafs need. He is a consistent playoff player over multiple series, while Miller had ONE good in the bubble. it doesn't make any sense. I don't get how Canucks fans think JT miller can get Willy Nylander. Its very unrealistic. why would the leafs do that deal, it makes them way worse

Keep dreaming lil bro

Nylander is never going to have a 99 point season, he's at most equal to Miller's value because of the age difference, end of discussion

ahh yes, all because miller overachieved, he's apparently better. Canucks fans overrate him so much its insane. Hes gonna fall off, Nylander is only getting better. end of discussion

And Leafs fans overrate Nylander quite a bit as well. Nylander is already in his prime, he is what he is now. Miller was a PPG since he arrived in Vancouver. People trying to call his latest season an outlier are seriously grasping at straws to try and downplay his value just because he's a late bloomer

Then keep him and sign him to an extension. No way Leads trade any lander for him. Nobody seems to want him at the price the Canucks are demanding / on Cap Friendly or in the real world. I think everybody sees the same thing - good but ageing player on an expiring contract who is going to ask for too much $ and too much term.

If you are a team who hasn't made the play offs in a few years and are looking for someone to help get you there, Nylander is the player. If you want someone who will actually help you win play off series and lead by example on the ice of what it means to give 100% effort, then Miller is the guy. If these 2 players were a golf analogy, then Nylander is a driver and Miller is a putter. (Driving is for show and putting is for dough is what I am referring to for someone who is not familiar with golf).

Miller will only get paid as a free agent what team's in the market are willing to pay for him. That is the very DEFINITION of a MARKET, people are losing site of that

We don't know whether Dubas would trade Nylander for Miller, it's just that Leafs fans like you don't want such a trade to go down for whatever reason

I think that’s kind of the point; Canucks fans are putting too much value in a 30 year old approaching FA. You simply won’t get what I see Canuckle fans asking for on this site (& certainly not Nylander) . But time will tell

Then the Canucks will just extend Miller because if his trade market isn't very robust, that likely means he isn't worth a huge chunk of change as a free agent
