Not enough money/years for Smith or Shattenkirk. Smith is getting 4-5 years at 4-4.5 mil. Shatty is getting 6-7 at 6 -7 Mil.
Skapski may be non tendered, he can't play in the AHL & barely in the ECHL. He has no value , Hrivik will most likely leave via UFA & his value is a 4th liner
Kleins value is in the toilet, getting a 4th or 5th rounder would be a boon. Don't see Vegas taking him when they can get Fast or Lindebrg or Raantaa, the pick won't make a difference.
I think they keep Holden, he was really good until about game 65, then we was pretty bad. A big D man that can play both sides has value. They should shop him to EDM, they lost there Top D man for 6-9 months & Holden could be a stop gap & get a 3rd & 5th in return or dare to dream a 2nd.
I like the thought process on the Nash deal, but i don't they move him. With Hitchcock back in Dallas, i'd shop him there as well.
And see if STL will take Stepan, they aren't too deep down the middle.

$8m in dead cap space, terrible trades, low contracts... and you have 2 rookies and a guy that can't get out of his own zone to save his life.

I think you are undervaluing Nick Holden. I'd agree with one of the posters above that I think NYR should keep him. Also, no team gets Kevin Shattenkirk for under at least $6.5 million AAV for 7 years, and I think that, for him would be a "home team discount".

undervaluing holden? have you ever actually watched him play? he cost them 3 playoff games singlehandedly, but trust me when I say he was bad from day 1. most of the goals he scored early on were more luck than skill. I'm not even exaggerating to say he's the single worst defensemen I've ever seen play in the nhl, and it's not close.

Staal has a NMC

which he can be asked to waive. I think between staal & girardi one will be bought out & one will agree to be traded. not sure which is which or if any team would take either of them. worst case, buyout both. it's time.

I know I probably undersold smith & shatt, but even if so I left over 4 mil in space so it can be higher. Not sure you got the point on the klein thing - i'm giving them a 3rd rounder to take him in the expansion draft instead of raantta/lindberg, etc. And see above comment on holden - he is pure trash, period.

I know what you were thinking I just don't see McPhee (Vegas GM) taking Klein and a pick when Fast & Lindeberg or Rantaa are available. Two 25 year old RFA's that can maybe be top 9 forwards for under 2 million a year for the next 2 years? Can Rantaa be a #1 or split with another goalie for 1 miilion bucks? Mcphee is gonna stock up on picks across the ;league from team in worse expansion shape than the Rangers.

well if he has half a brain, you're exactly right... but this is a site for us to post how we dream about things working out in our team's favor right? smile
