I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit made the playoffs this year. They have a good team now and I think are being a bit underrated since their past seasons were not great. They have a very deep prospect pool too. IMO they can afford to move those firsts, especially to bring in Hughes.

I'll take that a step further and say Detroit isn't making the playoffs this year.

There isn’t a logic behind predicting a Norris trophy or someone who isn’t on the trade block or the player having any reason to be traded.

Seider just seems to have a higher ceiling than what I’ve seen from Quinn and it’s really like splitting hairs. Hughes is special and Seider is too. I think Moritz Seider is heading into the category of Norris trophy contender on a perennial basis and while nobody is Cale Makar; Hughes just doesn’t bring what those other guys bring to the game in terms of a balanced elite game.

Seider has some room to grow offensively but that will come with a better supporting cast and defensive pairing. Kid was 20 years old last year and played like a 30 year old established all star. There is something to be said about that.

And for the record I don’t believe Hughes will be traded, I just think if one of him or Seider were traded; it’d be Hughes. Vancouver is a mess and have had issues with odd trades, stressful negotiations on extensions and the team hasn’t found the success they were trying to force into fruition. I think those elements can lead to some uncomfortable decisions on personnel.

Vancouver is pretty far from a mess. We have a completely re vamped front office and our team is better than last years, and we almost made the playoffs last year, we would have if Boudreau came in earlier. The only bad thing is our RHD, although it can hold up for a couple more years with Myers and Schenn its gonna be garbage if we don't get some young guys. The OEL contract isn't great but he's still a top 4 D.

I know what you mean by Seider appearing to have a higher ceiling than Hughes but at the same time Hughes has improved so much in terms of defensive play the past year. Hughes is so skilled at carrying the puck pretty much no one can take it from him when he's walking the blue line, he's such a good power play QB he might be second to only Makar. Like seriously his skating abilities and puck control is amazing. Seider is a absolute unit but his skating abilities and mobility is decently far from Hughes and Makar, although he can improve.

Vancouver isn't a mess, you don't know squat about what is going on with the team cause you haven't been paying attention closely enough. The team isn't in a position where it's gonna be forced to trade Hughes, not even close. I'm not sure how you can proclaim Hughes doesn't have a balanced elite game, cause he rebounded defensively in a big way last season. I also don't know why you are making the argument for Seider's stats getting support from his teammates in his favor

All the respect in the world for Seider, but I don't ever see his mobility reaching the same level as Hughes or even Makar
