The Avs aren’t trading their top prospect their only pick in the first 4 rounds in a deep draft for a rental. Miller to COL doesn’t work in the cap world especially with MacKinnon due a monster contract and Byram and Newhook extensions too. That all being said Miller would thrive in COL and the value purely on a trade basis is good.

Erik Johnson's contract expiring accounts for the cap space needed for a MacKinnon extension. Calling Olausson Colorado's best prospect isn't saying a whole lot. Gotta give to get. Obviously Miller is only a rental in this case due to Newhook and Byram needing extensions the next year

its worth it for a 2nd cup. Newhook will be 2C material the year after and they can recoup assets by trading Girard or Toews depending on Byrams development and health. then they can pick up some guys in FA or resign their UFAs for the bottom 6.

To be fair, we don't know when Newhook will be ready to be the 2C for the Avs long-term

Perhaps this is a TDL move, if Compher and Newhook fail first. It would be tough to move the best F prospect and another on the rise, but they still have Behrens, and Meyers. Given the locker room divide in VAN, I would only trust Miller as a late season rental, so as not to disrupt things too much.

There was no locker room divide FFS, it was all rumors and BS, can't believe you're still paranoid about that. I don't think Meyers is anything special, I don't see him being anything more than a bottom six role players, and you're out of your mind if you think Compher can even remotely handle the 2C position

Maybe, maybe not, but the history of the NHL is chalk full of juicy drama. Nothing is unbelievable to me.

JTC gonna get first crack at it, so when Newhook slots in, Compher can't complain. I'd bet $100 USD. I mean, GMCM named JTC when point blank asked about 2C options; surprisingly he didn't name Newhook...

I get it, nobody wants to believe THEIR guys would ever put themselves above the team. We'll only know after they retire, when a book comes out.
