Clearing Yzerman's Bad Contracts

Description
As great as he has been, no GM is perfect and I think Yzerman will be looking to move away from some more bad contracts such as he did with Matt Carle, although I don't think he'll have to buy out anyone.

For those wondering, Yzerman has always overpaid value when it comes to trades and isn't afraid to take back less. I'm simply following what I won't be shocked if he does.

Ekholm is a great Defenseman on a great contract on a team trying to win now. I just don't see them moving him.

Nashville is in the unfortunate situation of having a lot of people to protect. While they may do the 4/4/1 method, I don't see it happening, and Nashville is likely to use their protections on Subban, Josi, and Ellis, while moving Ekholm for the high value he is.

Nashville is going 4-4-1 the forward they would lose is easier to replace than the dmen they would have to trade.

Gusev's still under contract with SKA until the end of next season. He could theoretically buy out the last year of his contract with SKA, but it'd be difficult.

Toronto won't take Cal Foote. They're more likely to take Hague if they are going to take a D. They most certainly wouldn't move a second round pick to move up 3 spots, especially if you consider both players mentioned are predicted to be available in the 20s...

Ekholm will not be moved, especially for picks. Nashville wants to win now. They are competitive and he's on a very team friendly contract. Wont happen.

Tampa will have to pay a premium to dump salary like Callahan too, not likely going to get a fourth. Likely a 6th/7th with a 4th going the other way to Ottawa.

Oh, and Jake Dotchin is not an NHL Defender, let alone top pair. He'll just give you more PKs.
