Dvorak is an upgrade on JTC but I wonder if its enough of an upgrade to be worth a 1st. Which I will say at first glance seems a little crazy and while it looks good for this year, his contract would actually be seriously problematic for next year where they very likely would just have to trade him again.

I think its more likely they would sign Stastny and not do the trade, and hedge their bets on Newhook continuing to develop or a a better option arises.

Dvorak is a fine middle 6 player but he isn't a 2c on a contender and much much better players are being moved for free right now due to cap space so his deal is more problematic for some teams than people would likely believe

Dvorak 33pts last year .5ppg career, Compher 33pts last year career .42pts ppg makes a million less but for some reason COL is kicking in a 1st to make up the difference. This is epically bad for COL.

Dvorak would be the perfect 2/3C for the Avs. He's decent enough to be on 2nd line, and his contract is cheap enough to be on third line duty when Newhook is ready for 2C.
