What Lou most likely is doing

Description
Lou can do a longer deal with Dobson IF he doesn’t want Sonny Milano. Then he can do 6x$6M. or if Milano and Romanov come in cheaper ($1.5m and $1.75m respectively) then 5x$5m is doable. And it may already be done. But I’m also not opposed to taking on Dobson bridge deal to 25 years old and still having him as an RFA, and then giving him a long term raise then. But perhaps that is why I’m not a GM.

How’s Lou going to get ducks to take on Bailey cap dump? By scowling at them

He shouldn’t cost as much to dump as someone like Ladd or Kassian did.

Bellows can legit play. Bailey’s salary is lower than his cap hit. While I’m sure Anaheim would c it as fair it’s not a lowball offer.

As I’ve seen in numerous posts by ducks fans (mostly related to Kerfoot who has only one year, $750 K actual salary and lower cap hit of $3.5M) it doesn’t help their rebuild and doesn’t fit their time frame. Seems like even good players can’t easily be moved given league wide cap crunch. Maybe bellows tips the scale

Oh I agree 110%. It would have to be a situation where the ducks like Bellows. I mean I like the dude. If he had played a full season he would’ve had 35 points with mediocre linemates, low TOI and a low shooting percentage. But again ur betting on someone from the 2016 draft here so idk how much value he has.

I’m higher on Bellows than most isles fans cause I think he’s that guy who can play a supporting role on a good 3rd line. Like I wouldn’t be shocked if he could play higher or lower in the lineup, but I think he’s one of those guys who will probably be best as a checking line wing who can score.

Agreed. Bellows could easily figure it out and has shown some really impressive flashes at times. He can score in the NHL, which isn’t so easy. Maybe with a confidence boost from a passionate coach like lambert he gets more production. But unfortunately, i don’t see him really getting the playing time here on the island to break out with the isles. He’ll be of value elsewhere.

Stefen Rosner just coincidentally released an article suggesting a trade of bellows and Bailey as well, but to Ottawa. That makes a lot of sense too. I would just feel really bad shipping Bailey to Arizona…

Tbh if they have to move bailey I’d like to keep bellows but there is a price to doing business. Again I don’t know if Bellows or Bailey get moved tho. There is a decent chance it ends up being Beau and Varly tbh.

Ha. You know i don’t want 6 years either. 4x$7m is totally ideal. And rumor is COL only offered Kadri a 1 year deal. But again, I’m just going with what i think Lou did. Not necessarily what i want.

I wonder what the COL 1 year offer was. Kadri could easily get 80+ points again w them and another cup, and then take the pay day next summer if teams have better cap situation. But perhaps Lou gave him close to what he wanted…

Beau trade would really suck - partially because i want to extend the window and don’t want a rebuild in 3 years. I realize we’re in win-now mode, at least that’s how Lou feels and we have a roster that says as much in terms of age. But Beau has the speed isles desperately need.

Gotta have some more value coming over if the Ducks are giving up a 3rd too.

You're getting Bellows. A first round pick in 2016 who still has a lot of upside.
