Quoting: Windjammer
Lol. Good golly, you're hard to have a conversation with when you can't back up what you say. You're the one that brought up slafkovsky, Caufield and Suzuki, not me. You're really grasping at straws.
Yes, you did shift the goal posts. You said the Montreal players are better NOW than Dubois, but we're not able you back up that statement, so you shifted the argument to "if Winnipeg asks for them Montreal says no". Where is your evidence for those players being better now?
Montreal fans are saying the valuation is off base, every reasonable unbiased fan agrees it would be a minimum of a 1st, good prospect and possibly another piece if Dubois is moved now.
You screwed up, you made a stupid statement, were called on it and couldn't back it up.
Just take the L And move on.
It was someone else that brought up the trio actually, and I believe you agreed with them.
You said Dubois for a prospect, Dach and a 1st, which is still off-base..... falls into that category of the afore mentioned trio.
Not shifting goal posts as you claim. Sticking to my valuation that a deal involving Dubois would be Dvorak, Ylönen and a pick..... that would be a framework.
You are under the impression that Dubois is worth more, and I say he simply isn't.
We can do this all day long. Dubois will not net a Grade A prospect unless he is moved to a legit Cup contender, which changes the conversation. Even then, not sure how much more than a Grade A prospect he nets.
The initial package presented actually does have merit. Dvorak plugs a hole very well (defensively just as good as Dubois, offensively no), Hoffman score 25 on a short term deal, and for a team whose window is supposed to be open and lacking any level of scro8jg on the third line might actually matter. The prospects can be used in the system, or flipped for organizational needs. The pick is a bonus.
Perhaps the Jets do better, it's possible. But I don't see bluechip prospects or young NHL talent with high ceilings being the return here - which clearly you do.
What is going to happen, is Dubois will test the UFA market, price himself out, and end up on a 1 year deal á la Hall in Buffalo or Kilingberg in Amahiem because he sees his worth being more than what it actually is.
Not a risk many GMs are going to take, nevermind moving real assets to get it done.
I stand by the assessment.
