You guys acting like Girard isn’t a defensive stud. He uses his body pretty well too. Just because of that hit in playoffs doesn’t mean he gets pushed around.

Oilers could use a big mean type on the back end. Got lots of decent to solid players but no nasty make you pay types. Didn't mean to critize Girard fantastic player just not the type of guy needed at this point in time.

I really doubt there is any situation where CHI gives up picks for players. Maybe late round picks to balance larger trades, but i'm even skeptical of that.

If it weren’t for the fact that their Left D is basically set(other than the fact that Broberg has to earn the spot over Samorukov, and Niemalainen)and the oilers need to free up cap room to afford to sign the likes of Skinner and Bouchard next summer. Taking on Girard’s contract wouldn’t be worth what it might cost them.
