Just realized this trade still gives them 3 goalies, and with Burns gone for doubt they trade Karlsson. Just throwing stuff at the wall to see if it will stick

Karlsson has a better chance at rebounding than Bobby
and Reimer is a much safer bet in net i would say no thanks.

Easy no from SJS. Karlsson>Bob all day when Erik is healthy and we are due a healthy year for him. Also Bob has NMC for 2 more years and he isn't waiving to go to a high-tax rebuildng team in SJS.

I agree that prime EK is elite and agree that Bob might not waive for San Jose but I just don't think it's likely Karlsson rebounds. He's starting to get up there in age and hasn't reached 60 games in SJ over 4 seasons.

Bobrovsky is still a solid goalie who can play a lot of games. He's definitely not what he once was but is still a good starter. He makes 1.5 less than Karlsson and his contract expires a year earlier which is a big deal. Lastly, I don't think Karlsson fits Grier's vision of a physical, tenacious team.

Reimer and Bob had similar numbers last year. One is 10 mil one is 2 mil. One was on a presidents trophy winning team, one was on a terrible team. Not interested in Bob at all. Karlsson was still at .70 ppg last year before injuries, he’s very capable of being elite again, just a matter of staying healthy.

true but I think we'd both agree that Bob is definitely the better goaltender. I know EK65 is still an elite puck mover and great offensively but with consistency and injuries he's just not an elite defenseman anymore. I think if he can find consistency and stay healthy he will be but I'm doubtful that both will happen.

He had average numbers on the president trophy winning team…I don’t think it’s much of a bounce back

no i think we all are saying Reimer was better last year and more likely to repeat his success.

Reimer maybe had the best season of his career while Bobrovsky's was below average and Bob still had better numbers.

but he didn’t and Reimer didn’t and beyond that sharks were a much poorer defense and reimer was still much better.

bottom line is that Bobrovsky is a better goalie than Reimer. Two time Vezina winner and can play well in 60+ games which is something Reimer could not do. Not even sure Reimer is considered a starter, more like a 1A.

he is slightly better now but obv not 4x Reimer. This whole thing started cause you said, "Reimer is a much safer bet in net."

We clear a very bad contract and take on a slightly better contract. We also get solid value for Reimer.

we weaken our D and don’t improve our net and don’t gain enough cap space to fix the hole on the D we just created.

I assumed this trade was if SJ wasn’t looking to compete next season. A lot more space long term.

yeah but that one year is a big difference. 10 mil off the books. Also 1.5 every season.
