Raty won’t be made available in a deal for an almost 30 year old forward on an expiring deal. At least in my opinion he won’t be.

I highly doubt you get that much for Miller. I think replace Raty with a second and it's fair

There is a good chance the isles can lock mayfield up to play third pair minutes at a cheap price anyway. And if he gets moved at the deadline he should command a Ben Chiarot or Josh Manson level return. So I doubt NY says yes for that reason alone.

After what Gudbrandon/Chiarot got as UFA there is no way the isles should look to extend mayfield

Braden McNabb signed a pretty reasonable extension with Vegas. I was thinking something similar to that. I think Mayfield would prefer to stay in NY over getting overpaid to play for a bad team. NY can still turn it around.

If Miller goes before the season starts it will be because they want to sign him then we are going to see top 6 roster players coming back and picks or cap dumps. If he goes at the TDL then most likely teams are not trading roster players when they are on a cup run. So picks and prospects. If Miller stays to the TDL its better than even money Canucks are heading to the playoffs so no longer available. imho

Vegas has no state income tax, that would be like the isles signing mayfield to a 3.5 mill x 3 contract , which is still to much.

Idk what he expects to get in free agency. I thought Grant Hutton was pretty good in limited minutes last year. I would probably be willing to let him take over the third pair RHD role. Worst case scenario you have to make a minor acquisition at the deadline to replace Hutton.
