Gotta think a Thompson/Broissoit tandem get a long look before Vegas goes crazy on a pending UFA. It's not a bad idea, because I don't trust either of those guys, but Thompson was solid last year (small sample size), and I *think* he'd have to go through waivers if he didn't make the team.

Isles are not in a position to retain, and it should not be necessary with Lehner going on LTIR (identical cap hit to Varly). That bring said it doesn't sound like Lou wants to trade Varlamov whether we want him to or not

I think for a first and a third NYI would be able to retain a million. Isles can’t afford to retain more or I would be willing to retain fifty percent

I know this sounds silly, but Isles can't retain although I'd take Brossoit back so we have a backup. I think Lou doesn't want to lose the option of a legit NHL goalie behind Sorokin, but Brossoit is at least a decent backup so that could make all the difference.

Broissoit coming off an injury; Vegas just doesnt have luck with healthy goalies lol. That's why Vladdy helps provide some stability.

really depends on the Hague deal, Maybe the return is a 2nd and 3rd for no retention and Vegas has a 22 man roster. NYI then confirms the Kadri deal haha

with $1M i think vegas just reduces the 1st to a 2nd and lives with only 22 players and no retention

i mean they can flip the picks for a back-up. I think this trade allows for the kadri signing

I doubt Lou does that if he’s taking back Broissant

Isles don't *have* to move Varly though. He is a great 1B and a mentor to Sorokin. To confirm Kadri we can move Beauvillier on a Bjorkstrand like deal (not a great scenario) or pay an asset to shed Bailey (which I prefer)

Honestly if we moved Varly it would need to be for a 1st or actually Nic Hague. I'd like him on the Isles

I think Holtby would be another great option out there for a back-up (wont cost $5M either). i mean $5M of cap for a 2nd/3rd (nota first) without have to trade Beau would be a bigger win IMO

ya took a closer look. I think no retention makes more sense with Romanov, Dobson and Bellows to sign. Plus Kadri

Holtby isn't playing next season due to injury I believe and it may be career threatening. He's a good fit because of coaching staff but not realistic. Isles would need to trade for a backup.

Hague and Brossoit for Varly? Or they go out and get like Reimer for example
