DET
  1. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel
Additional Details:
Would something like this be worth while for the Wings? Both players put up similar points but I think JGP is better defensively and far superior in the faceoff circle. He is older but costs more and seems like they might need a bit of cap space this year. I wonder if a trade like this would benefit both clubs? Islanders get 3.3M in cap space so that don't have to potentially pay to dump Bailey or trade Beau. Varlamov might still be on the move for them but I think they want to keep that tandem.
NYI
  1. Suter, Pius ($1,625,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Might be a pick or something added one way or the other, minor details. Maybe a player like McIsaac or a third round pick? I'm not sure on the value of JGP right now.

NHL situation : top team in a cap disaster
NHL top team fans wish : Still fleecing the league
NHL reality : Only habs and panthers manage their cap without freaking around like Vegas or Tampa ...!

Suter ++ as offered is a start no matter what complain Isle fans can mention here. Even in a Varlamov trade they are looking for a 1st ... geez. The reality check will be hard ...

I just don’t see why NY would sell for pennies on the dollar when they have multiple valuable assets.

The idea the islanders need to sell low on JGP makes no sense to me. They have multiple assets with real value at premium positions. I’m not worried about them tbh.

I would add a decent pick, it's not them selling low just them making him available. I wouldn't add a first or anything but like a second round pick in this draft would be pretty decent plus a guy like Suter to replace him for a quarter of the cost.

You know this trade is not supposed to be straight up right? Like obviously Detroit adds a pick, am I sure what that would be? No. Likely Detroit's second in this next draft.

I wouldn’t ask for a first, but I’d probably ask for a prospect like Mazur and the Blues second. I’m not sure how realistic that is tho.

They need to clear a lot if they r actually gonna sign Kadri. Personally I hope it’s not true lol.

He's far superior in the faceoff circle and quite a bit better defensively that's why. A third line with JGP and Copp would be very tough to play against in the long term future. That's kind of where my thought process is.

Huge difference between the two on the pk and with faceoffs

Thank you for the responses. I really had no idea which is why I asked.

Yeah I think he would be a nice third line centre. Career 55% in the dot. Multiple years with selke votes. Him and Copp on the third line with maybe someone a little more offensive would be wicked. Suter is a career like 45-46% in the faceoff dot.

I'm not sure I agree about JGP being that much better defensively. Suter has more takeaways than giveaways whereas the opposite is true for JGP. He's a better hitter and shotblocker but faceoffs are to a degree a team stat so I would be careful relying on that.

Neither JGP nor Suter will be a star in this league and with Niederbach and Kasper wanting roster spots in two or three years time, and Veleno wanting a spot right now, I don't really see the point of a trade like this. The gain isn't big enough to warrant it.

When you talk about a career 10% difference I feel it is substantial. Suter could develop into a similar player just kicking the tires on ideas.
