A quick glance:

Winnipeg is paying to get Monahan.
Calgary is getting paid to dump Monahan,
Arizona makes out pretty good.

Winnipeg has been trying to shed Dillon so that they can get Heinola and Samberg in the fold full time. Yeah it costs the price of Dillon but Monahan for 1 year as 3C could provide Winnipeg with 3 scoring lines and let Lowry flourish on the 4th line and they can comfortably roll 4.

If Winnipeg is looking to trade Dillon he'd be traded by now. They'd get a good return for him. Or wait until the deadline when much worse DMen went for 1st plus a prospect. If they want a center to 'provide...three scoring lines just re-sign Stastney.

Really there is no need to shed Dillon.....just play Henola and Samberg. Dillon's two contract probably makes him more a difficult trade. LHD and LWers are the most plentiful of players, Harder to make a trade in a cap strapped league.
