Initial Creation Date: Aug. 20, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
They had a chance to get Nazem Kadri. Is Lou still asleep? Tbf this may be a blessing in disguise. Kadri will be 32 at the start of this season. He'll be 38 by the end of his contract. Maybe it was best that the Isles didn't sign Kadri.
Kadri before last season was a 60 point player at best.
Kadri's stats in the past 5 seasons before his breakout season were
2020-21 56GP 11G 21A 32P (Kinda disappointing season and got that huge 8 game suspension in the playoffs)
2019-20 51GP 19G 17A 36P (Good first season with the Avs, was a beast in the playoffs)
2018-19 73GP 17G 28A 45P (Last season with Toronto was meh and he got himself suspended again in the playoffs)
2017-18 80GP 32G 23A 55G (Solid season, but he got suspended in the playoffs)
2016-17 82GP 32G 29A 61P (Most points in a season before last season)

That means there forward core is basically the same. If Lambert's style is similar to Trotz's then I still think they'll have trouble getting enough goals. Yeah Nelson and Lee could score 30+ goals each, but others will have trouble scoring goals. Barzal probably could lead them in points, but I don't see him scoring more than 25 goals in a full season. Bailey isn't really a goal scorer. Pageau might get 20 goals, but it's not a guarantee. Palmieri did look better in the 2nd half, but he's been mediocre since the shortened season (with Jersey as well) besides the 2021 playoffs. Beauvillier only had 12 goals last season, but he did show good chemistry with Nelson and Lee. However there are trade rumours that Beauvillier is going to Montreal? Fourth line won't give much offence and Parise is going to be 38. Idk how good Wahlstrom and Bellows do b/c idk if Lambert will favour his vets just like Trotz.

The isles can complete for a cup now if they add Kadri. They have a great goaltending tandem, a fantastic top 4 defensive core, and a great mix of young forwards with veterans sprinkled throughout the lineup. They have amazing center depth and some promising young talent on the wings. You move Nelson to the wing and add Kadri while moving out Bailey’s salary, you’re looking at a really solid top 6. However Lou wants to play his stupid “nobody can know who we’re signing” games and has fumbled this off-season hardcore. I used to not care for Lou, but now I actively dislike him as a GM. He needs to get with it if he wants to be a manager in this league. Nobody wants to play his stupid games.

Or maybe he didnt want to sign that horrible kadri contract and become SJS and in addition to that pay a 1st to move bailey. Remember tim stutzle? Yeah he shouldve been a shark if they hadnt made a terrible trade and then signed a horrible deal with erik karlsson.

He didn’t have to make the exact moves I said but it’s absolutely asinine that he’s done nothing aside from one trade at the draft because he wants to be secretive.

Not arguing with that. Just saying that kadri is way worse than doing nothing.
