If Kyle Davidson can convince Kaner to waive it would be a smart move. Not every team in the Atlantic can make the playoffs. Just stack that whole division and take all their 1sts. Lol.

I agree, I think it will come down to what it will cost to upgrade the defense. If they add the right defenseman and the team gels quickly? I can see them moving a 1st to go on a deep run. I think as improved as Ottawa will be, I still think they're considered underrated. Ottawa's young guys had what most would consider modest stats. But think with DeBrincat and Giroux added to the top 6, Ottawa was ranked 22nd in the league on the PP last season. There is no way that happens this year. Norris, Batherson, Chabot, and Pinto all missed significant time last year which I don't see happening this year. Ottawa's young guys had modest but decent stats all the while we had no depth so when Batherson, Norris etc were all out? There was really no talent for them to play with especially on the PP. I think Ottawa could really take off this season. They do need another defenseman though, but I think Dorion is trying to wait til closer to the start of camp when teams over the cap ceiling need to sell off players. If Ottawa can grab someone like Whitecloud out of Vegas, Montour out of Florida, ans who knows maybe CGY is willing to let go one of their RD as they are completely stacked maybe even too stacked. Just comes down to price I guess.

Ottawa doesn't need Kane at all

For Chychurn, probably have to add a 2nd and improve Sokolov to Jarventie

Modest stats???

Batherson : near PPG in 46 games
Norris : 47 goals in his last 91 games
Stuzle : 31 pts in his last 27 games, shortly after turning 20 years old
Tkachuk : 30 goals, 67 pts powerforward
Chabot : 38 pts in 59 games, carrying bad D partners for the most part... again
Formenton : 18 goals as a 22 y/o rookie, 13 at ES and 5 SH which was league leading

Modest stats if you know nothing about what the team went through. Totally agree.... I keep hearing all this we have to get another defenseman to make the playoffs. I don't think it's as dire as people are making it out to seem. We should have the puck a ton more this season than last season. Our depth was non-existent last season.... I mean Ennis, Tierney, Watson, Gaudette??? You're totally right, because you watched the games. Stutzle outside of the first 17 games where he was snake bitten averaged a point per game with basically Formenton and C. Brown. No offense to those players but they are 3rd line wingers. Stutzle basically put up point per game numbers with them. He will likely get to play with DeBrincat & Giroux this season. HUGE DIFFERENCE.... He likely hits 90 points this season.

Norris would've hit 40+ goals if he hadn't gotten hurt. What helped him was having the big line in tact. With Stutzle getting DeBrincat and Giroux, it means Ottawa's top line that were absolutely dominant when they were allowed to play together for long stretches. That line gets to stay together this season and I don't think people realize how huge that is. Tkachuk has 9 PP goals last year which isn't bad but lets be honest with what Ottawa will be loading up on the PP this season? More likely to come close to doubling that. Not to mention Brady had 117PIM and still scored 40 goals.

If Ottawa adds a defenseman that really clicks this team is really going to fly this season.

Just saw this.... But the reason I included Sokolov was because Arizona really liked him and were hoping to land him in the next round of the draft. But if Arz wanted Jarventie instead I'd make the swap.
