Description

OK. So I know Calgary fans and Habs fans will both be outraged here. I will say, regardless of what others might think, Anderson & Evans are the two most under-rated players on the Habs.

Evans is fantastic defensively and brings a consistently surprising amount of offence. If he's your 4C you are doing really well. Plus he brings it in the playoffs better than most.

Anderson is a truck. When he comes streaming into the corner on the forecheck, guys move out of the way and give up the puck. Playing for Sutter he's probably gonna score 25 goals and puts up 20-25 assists. But most importantly, some guys get you to the post-season and some guys play in the post-season. This guy uses his power well and he has a ton of it. It helps in the post-season.

I believe the Flames are the closest to bringing a cup back to Canada and I believe this move gets them closer.

As a habs fan, we keep JAnderson. As for Evans, love him, but wouldn't be opposed to trading him for something with some value (pick), but he's our 4th center and we are not doing really well

Decline, easy. Ok not a 2023 first would be needed, but Lucic needs a first to dump. Anderson could be worth that first so basically comes to Evans for Lucic, which is very bad for MTL

Raph - maybe the trade needs a bit more for Montreal, but honestly, who cares how bad we are this year? We need to be really bad to have a chance to draft Fantilli. Anderson is not gonna see us through the rebuild, by 2025 he's gonna be 31. We already have Gallagher to be everyone's dad. Why are we holding him?

I also think we can get something for Lucic at the TDL. Another expiring winger.

Evans was the 3C in MTL last season. Now he's been relegated to 5C or 4RW. It's a real sad state of affairs.

Boy does that CGY lineup look solid. There is no McDavid, but they are deep and they are balanced between size and skill. Lots of Sandpaper. This could be the team to bring the cup back to Canada.

Look at Huberdeau's cap hit this year, then compare it to next year. If the plan is to keep Weegar (which it should be) this is a non-option for Calgary

Lucic is untouchable no way Flames would do something so stupid thats not asset managment, and Andersson is overpaid for too long term to suit flames, evans wouldnt even make our team

I don't want to give Andy away but it's logical if we're not being a playoff team until he's over 30 years of age. Instead of a 2nd why not only add Kylington to the deal? Solves our 2RD issue for the next couple of years and Calgary can slot Valimaki with Weegar on the third pairing.

Maybe. I dunno sir. I do know that I genuinely believe that these 2 players push Calgary over a line in my mind to true contender territory.

Evans is pretty replaceable, especially with Ruzicka already a Flames. So he doesn't push anything.

It's not that different than Coleman's. Evans was so clutch against Toronto & Winnipeg in the 2020-21 playoffs. Evans also had 29 points last season on the worst team in the NHL and is entering his prime. I do not agree that you can swap him for Ruzicka.

Josh can backcheck fairly well. But he forechecks with the best of em!

Your argument on Ruzicka falls apart for me. A player in a sophomore season who has not played a minute of playoff hockey should not be the plan for your success on a cup run.
