No hawks decline. Remember Kane has put pretty solid 70 to 90 points consistently and really over last few years with only basically dcat. Image him on a team with more talent that's why the price is going to be high. Delivers in the playoffs experience and 3 cups conn Smyth so there's that.

A top pairing defenseman is a really steep price to pay for a rental. Besides if the Flames trade Hanifin they're going to need Mackey to replace Him. Stillman and Mitchell don't cut it.

Chicago is tanking anyhow, they don't want good roster players, they want picks and prospects. They'd probably be willing to take on Lucic's contract except they're probably not on his 10 team trade list.

Weegar or Kylington would be the Hanifin replacements, Stillman would be for the 3rd Pairing. Can't argue that the Hawks may want Picks/Prospects instead, other than CHI could likely flip Hanifin for those too

I didn't mean to replace him on the top pair, just to replace him on the roster. And I'd much prefer Mackey on the 2nd or 3rd pairing over Stillman.
But I wouldn't trade Hanifin for Kane in the first place, at least not without getting a proven top 4 LD from somewhere to replace him.

Kane won't cost a whole lot to acquire anyhow. He's not going anywhere unless he agrees. If he does get traded it'll be to the team he figures gives him the best shot at a cup, that team will know Chicago doesn't have much leverage, won't overpay for him and probably get a bargain.

I'd have offered Valimaki but Mackey's from Illinois and figured the Hawks might value him more. Stillman is Tough & Physical, Blocks Shots & Kills Penalties and has more NHL Experience than Mackey. Looking to Sell High on Hanifin and/or Kylington, but yeah might be able to get more value out of Hanifin elsewhere

I'll take Mackey over Stillman every time!
