Getting Closer

Created by: EmilieCastonguay
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 26, 2022
Published: Aug. 26, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Still a flawed roster, relying on a lot of ifs.

IF: Petey & Bo can score like they did in the 2nd half of the season
IF: Podkolzin has linear growth to his sophomore season
IF: Kuzmenko can deliver on his KHL promise
IF: Boeser can reignite his scoring touch after a tough 2021-22 season
IF: Hoglander can get back in the good graces of Boudreau
IF: Mikheyev can score consistently in Top6 minutes
IF: Poolman can 1.) stay healthy and 2.) be a steady partner for Quinn
IF: Demko doesn't have to be ridden like the Pony Express and Martin can provide capable backup starts

Team has a shot at the Playoffs, provided majority of those IFs go their way. Barring that, it's another season of building. Maybe things start to open up for the Canucks cap-wise in the latter part of the season or prior to the start of the '23-24 season where they can move Myers out and potentially find takers for Dickinson and Pearson.

The Ducks are going to have a big hole at RD next season due to the departures of both Klingberg and Shattenkirk, and Hellerson is going to end up filling one of those holes, so we cant really afford to move on from him right now. Might be able to make it work with Axel Andersson if you drop DiPietro.

we aren't trading a young defenseman I think will fit nicely with Zellweger for the future for a small forward and a goalie prospect we don't need at all as we have twi goalies in our system I would say are better and will be better

Pathetic offer for J. T. Miller.

Besides there's already some speculations of him wanting to sign with Pittsburgh next season. And he's getting a lot more than $7,500,000 per need to add at least another $1,000,000 to that offer.
