Don't think barzal was on the oilers radar at all so if we didn't make that trade can almost certainly guarantee barzal wouldn't be an oiler today.

Wrong. Nurse was playing more (and harder) minutes than Klefbom by his 22 year old season.

2017-18 TOI/GP at 5v5
Nurse: 18:53 (34.8% v Elites)
Klefbom: 16:57 (32.3% v Elites)

Klefbom played 2 more seasons after that, so it wasn't like he was injured and on his way out. Nurse was already ahead of Klefbom as a 22 year old. He has been a legit 1st pair defenseman for 5 years despite not being paid like one.

Sadly, I think this is correct. They would have used that pick on Joel Ericksson Ek. That's 100x better than what they DID use the pick on, but it's not Mat Barzal.

Considering how you traded a first for Reinhart a D-Man you would more than likely take Chabot instead other D-man taken in round one
