Nice trade to Chicago. However, I don't see the incentive for Arizona to retain 25%. I think you will have to replace the 3rd with a 2nd and then it should be good

No team is doing Ken Holland a favor by retaining another 25%, it's going to be painful. Either a 2nd round pick or more. And Arizona isn't in position to be retaining on players when they're playing in a 5,000 seat arena. People need to remember that.

That's way too much to give up for 1 year of Kane. Buffalo didn't get that much for Eichel, and he's 10 years younger and has term.

Go back and look at all the recent 3rd team retention trades and you'll see both the ACGM's offer and yours are quite dramatically overestimating what the cost would be. Even when the 3rd team retains more than 2mil, the most they're typically getting is a 4th.

Agreed. This team needs to focus its assets on acquiring Dmen. Not the one's available right now, but one's that'll become available over the course of the year as some teams start to disappoint.

Yeah. Huge salaries and/or with lots of term that teams are trying to dump, are one thing. But 25% of Kanes cap hit is only $2.625M, not only that, but the actual cash salary AZ would be paying is only $750k, and it's only for the 22-23 season. That is not worth more than a B prospect and a 3rd. In fact, that is probably more than it will cost. Especially, for bottom teams with plenty of cap flexibility, like AZ. That is a no brainer free assets for AZ in a super deep draft, to do something that barely effects them.
