TDL Move — Modeled after Ben Chiarot Trade

If Ben Chiarot, a lesser player making more than double the contract money can fetch a 1st, 4th, and a prospect, I see no reason why Mayfield can’t fetch a 1st and a 2nd. It’s 50% retained so he’s basically free

I like the trades, although the Edmonton one favors the Islanders by a decent amount. Also, Wahlstrom should be on either the 1st or 2nd line, definitely not the 4th. As an Isles fan, myself and others would HATE to see that, especially after Trotz departing.

Oh I didn’t even notice the lines. They changed after I traded for Kane. Maybe the trade favors the Islanders, but contending teams have overpaid for big, physical defensemen in the past at the TDL. Ben Chiarot and David Savard come to mind

I think the Hawks would like Ross Johnston in their IMO.

I don't see Patrick Kane waiving for the Islanders.

And Chicago will get a better offer than this for Kane.

I’m a big Dufour guy, but I think Chicago says no.

I think he would waive because he’s a big fan of Barzal’s skating and style of play. But the isles could easily be outbid for his services.

I mean anything is possible, but it wouldn't shock me if he doesn't go to the Rangers. To be reunited with Breadman.

I agree — but the Isles r in a better position to extend Kane. Think about what Letang, Giroux and Malkin got last off season. I think Kane could get 5 and 30 with NYI EASILY. Is it a good idea? That’s a different conversation. But it’s not that hard to play next to Mat Barzal. Bellows did it for 9 games and had six points so what does that say about the rest of the roster? Zack Parise was great with Barzy in the second half too lol.

I doubt wherever Kane goes he extends right away. He's looking for a playoff run is my bet not finding a new home necessarily.

Further, he's going to get $7m to $8M a year. Kane is better then Giroux, Letang is just not a good comparison, and Malkin was 35 years old and signed with team he's played his whole career with so a hometown discount was definitely factored in.
