Ideal lineup with no trades

Created by: njlaforte

Description
The Jets have to make a trade... but if they didn't then this is the lineup I would like to see.

I think that Wheeler will be on the 3rd line. I would like to see one of Gagner or Appleton on the RW with PLD and KC.

On D I think Dillon is the 7th best dman on the team. Heinola-Schmidt probably isn't a great pair but we have 4 more offensive d (JMo, Pionk, Schmidt, and Heinola) that need to be in the lineup so there will have to be 2 of them on the the same pair.

Jets lose good pieces in Gawanke/Kovacevic by doing nothing. They both get claimed on waivers. They really need to trade a dman bad. Dillon is the likely candidate as his contract is palpable. DeMelo is probably worth the most on the market due to him being right handed but jets need to keep him.

I like the idea of Appleton getting an opportunity on the wing with PLD and KC, especially with his new deal.

I 1000% agree with the Jets needing to make at least 1 trade probably more. I still think they trade a D for a middle 6 forward, or just trade a d for picks and sign a Milano or Rodrigues. I say they trade DIllon and Stanley so then we can have:

Jmo-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Heinola-Schmidt
Extra: Kovacevic, Gawanke

We could definitely carrier 2 extra D and 1 extra forward, but is not ideal. I wouldn't be surprised if they trade one of Kovacevic or Gawanke.

The Jets really dug themself into a hole with those 2 trades last offseason.

Scheifele/wheeler attached at the hip imo, I’m also hoping for Appleton to join pld/kc. I was looking at a kravtsov/lundquist add with rangers, just tough to make it fit and make sense on the rangers side, have a ehlers/perfetti/kravtsov, and possibly a 3rd pairing lundquist/samberg or Schmidt. Might have to bite off a capdump or something to make it make sense. Kind of interesting though.

Who would NY be looking to dump though? That’s what I’m not sure about. Like Reavo is the only guy who I really see them clamouring to move, Goodrow as well but his trade protection nixes that and the jets wouldn’t do it anyways. I’d be okay with taking reavo back if we needed to.

I’d be more open to moving Dillon for picks somewhere if possible then using other pieces to acquire Kravtsov and Lundkvist. Maybe that’s where Heinola and Gus go? Like I’m just at a loss for what the jets do. They really need to do something to shake things up. If they do nothing they’re going to lose guys for nothing. It’s super frustrating and Chevy has a ton of work to do in the next 3 weeks. The D trades last year were a mistake, and he’s got to find his way out of them.

Made a mess a little higher up build. Brought sandin/kerfoot and kravtsov/lundquist/reaves and goodrow. I wonder if rangers signed that deal, basically on the style goodrow plays will never complete it healthy, or couldn’t fathom winning a lottery, but going to be interesting times ahead there as far as cap goes, unless it jumps a decent amount.

Yeah I saw the thread. Way too much going on lol. Just keep it simple and acquire kerfoot on his own, then do some sort of prospect swap with NY with picks attached to balance it out. Can move Stanley and Dillon to other places.

Check what I just posted, that’s personally what I would go for. Not sure if I gave too much or too little to NY
