He might, His qualifying offer is only $878,500. So he gets a slight raise.

The Kings are cap strapped this season. They'll have significantly more room next summer. Foregoing a hefty raise now allows him to negotiate a bigger extension next summer.

This is true, Plus the cap should be rising big time by either 2024 or 2025.

Durzi will eventually sign but only if its a 1 way deal that guarantee's if he isnt in the NHL for LAK he will be for another team.
Its the only Leverage he can obtain without signing a 1 year deal to make himself arbitration eligible and offer sheet eligible.

LAK dont have to give it to him but by letting him sit out they'll devalue their own prospects trade value.
Giving him the bridge so he gets to Arbitration also could bite you if he's spiteful about it like Subban was.
After his breakout year we denied him his payday trying to lowball him as Bargin Bin Bergavin always did.
He made MB pay for it in the end

No matter which way you slice it
Moving Durzi is really best now as he only will lower his value if he's put behind Dought,Roy and Walker in a fight with Spence for minutes.
He broke out last year stepping up when all your top guys were on IR leading all Defensman in minutes come playoff time
His Power Play ability coupled with that makes him a target for a lot of teams once eligible for Offer Sheets as LAK are screwed cap wise for 2 more years minimum

Everyone's just assuming he's ok going from #1 NHL RD to AHL
He wont sign unless its a 1 way deal guaranteed

Durzi is no longer waiver exempt, regardless of whether he signs a 1-way or 2-way deal. I don't think that makes any difference, as if the Kings try to send him to Ontario, he'd be claimed off waivers immediately, so his hypothetical AHL salary is meaningless. Durzi will never play in the AHL again unless his play falls off a cliff.

If Durzi signs with the Kings, he's going to be a starting defenseman. Walker is going to play on the left side to start the year, and Spence (who is still waiver exempt) is going to play in Ontario. Durzi will be on a pair with Alex Edler, and he'll be the quarter back of the 2PP unit.

A 1-way vs a 2-way deal has nothing to do with waivers.

Also, Durzi was never a #1 defenseman in the NHL.

People keep saying that but i keep pointing out that's why he was injured.
Playing your offside means leaving yourself exposed along the boards as you have position you body away from the player and toward the puck just to get it on you forehand to control.

Only exceptions to this rule are Generally Big and Heavy Defensman who absorb the hits then out battle the opponents before they make the plays
The other exception being High End offensively minded Defenseman who trive on their off side. There's like 5 in the NHL like that with TML having 2 in Brodie and Reilly.

I'm sorry but Walker isnt that guy
Doughty could be but wont cause he's #1 his spots secured.
Roy isnt built for it nor is Durzi.
Spence is in the same boat .

On the bright side putting him there will help move him to LTIR more quickly this year so you can use the cap lol

Walker wasn't playing on the left when he was injured. He got tied up with David Perron off a faceoff on the right side boards and tore his ACL/MCL.

Walker played on the left next to Doughty for a while a few seasons back. He did just fine and wasn't injured when that happened.

I'm not sure why everyone hates Walker all of a sudden. He missed over half the season in 2019-20 because he took a Matt Dumba slapshot to the face, then missed nearly all of last season because of this fluke injury after getting tied up with Perron. Prior to all of that, he was a quality top-four RHD that can play on both sides. When he signed his current contract, everyone thought it was a steal.

Los Angeles Kings signed Sean Walker (4 Years / $2,650,000 AAV)

Also, Alec Martinez played on his off-side on the Kings for years and did just fine. The Muzzin-Martinez pair was one of the better Kings 2nd pairs in the salary cap era.
