Of course we will take that, but it's a hideous overpay. I'm personally of the opinion that Barrie has positive (if limited) value.

I think Barrie has more value than having to give up a 23' 1st but he also has a sizable cap hit that carries into next season. It's the difficult instance of "you gotta do what you gotta do."

The consolation is that the Oilers have a few RHD in the AHL that can push to be a 6th-7th defenseman.

At my most aspirational I would have asked for a 23 2nd for a deal with the two players involved.
