Description
Obviously things are going to change with the expansion draft but i believe it would be beneficial to move stepan (for prospects or picks) not because of his skill but to free cap and to allow hayes to be in a more offensive role along with lindberg and to bring in a faceoff specialist on the fourth line. Sign shattenkirk to hopefully a hometown discount on not long term as he is a 2nd line defender and we have too many long term contracts on the back end.

Smith and Shatty wont sign for that low, Would love Stepan in Detroit but he's not going to waive his NMC for a future rebuilding team.

i don't think think the rangers would give smith more than 4 mil. I agree that shattenkirk will get more money but i just threw a number in there and i just picked a randon team to trade stepan just to lose his cap

+1, Stepan is too old to help us with the rebuild; we need a young 1C & 1D.

If you want pick #9 from DET, you're looking at something closer to Skjei and a late 1st round pick. You pick #21, so maybe we'd even it with your 3rd in exchange (DET 1st, +NYR 3rd = Skjei + NYR 1st). But that doesn't rid you of Stepan's cap.

Detroit does not need another high priced center on the down side of his career, we have that covered. We need young D who can make a tape to tape pass and skate. Green is the only D-man the Wings have that can do both. Dekeyser can not skate or pass, Kronwall, bless him, can not skate, Ericcsson, well, enough said, Jensen can skate and pass but not very well, and he rest well, they are not good.Sephan was a salary dump and you get a high 1st round pick, no thank you.

stepan doesn't have the NMC until the middle of the summer-- after the draft it kicks in so he can still be traded-- and i'll take the 1st for him

I find it hilarious how you guys think Stepan is old and on the downside of his career. He is 26 years old and a solid borderline 1st line probably better suited 2nd liner who consistently puts up 55 points. Also a very good two center. Many Ranger fans are overreacting after his postseason this year. You don't find centers like Stepan off trees. I really hope they don't trade him unless it's an insane offer
