Description
At the end of the day we know Gaut doesn’t fit a bottom 6 role. He has shown flashes here or there that he has potential, can’t pin point why he is still struggling. My final thought is he just hasn’t been given enough time on a line to generate chemistry and comfort.. anyone else feel this way? I figure 20-30 games on the same line would be sufficient to see if he has it

He was primarily a 3rd liner in 2020-21 as opposed to a 4th liner and played a total of 30 games.

I think Gauthier is just not fit for a top line. He has great size and speed and decent skill but he lacks a good hockey iq. Everytime he makes a break for himself he does the same move that only rarely works and I just never feel like hes using his size as effectively as he could in front of the net

Ya but in his defence it was always different line mates. But I’m leaning dud too. Just his draft position, speed, etc. i can’t believe he is that bad but maybe he is

Ya, agreed! Great points. How can they not train him to do more though? Strength training shouldn’t be an issue. Shooting and passing is harder to learn but it’s attainable also. Just leaves me in disbelief
