Not worth it for the Senators.

If they acquire a D, they need a sure thing, and not another half measure. Not to mention, the Senators are already at or very close to their rumored budget. I don't think adding a defenseman at 2.2M who hasn't been great since leaving Edmonton makes much sense.

If it was something like Brannstrom for Bear at half retained, I'd be fine with the change of scenery move, since Brannstrom is probably done in Ottawa anyways. I don't get the rationale of Ottawa giving up a 2nd for Bear in what is a buyer's market. If there was 2nd on the table from anybody, I assume Carolina would have taken it by now.

Idk probably an over payment for Sens imo tbh. Could probably get Bear for a 3rd and 4th by himself or bear+4th for 2nd. Canes will probably be looking to move him throughout the season since picking up calvin de haan and having Coughlan and Chatfeild battling for 3rd pairing as well

I think sens 3rd straight up for bear would prob get it done imo. But with current Sens team they probably give Brannstrom full year to prove he deserves an extension
