What exactly is the plan after Byron and Edmundson come back?

I think it's finish for Byron. I'll be really surprised to see him back.

put Edmunson on LTIR to start the season and accrue cap space then when he comes back they should be ok, the deal is a smart move to gain another solid pick. besides by the time one or both come back there will have been trades to move vets and get picks anyways.

You can't accrue cap space if you are using LTIR relief to be cap compliant and as long as Price is under contract while on LTIR Montreal will never be accruing cap space

Fwiw Edmundson is on IR on this post, not LTIR, so there is money to activate him. Can't say the same about Byron tho.

I looked up their status before commenting on the thread at all. Byron is expected to only miss a couple weeks and Edmundson is out indefinitely. In theory if Edmundson doesn't play at all then sure they could probably fit Dobby but otherwise it's pretty much impossible

I think there's ways around it. For instance, when Edmundson is about to return they can at least in theory assign all of Hoffman, Byron and Khudobin to AHL. That would create enough space for them to re-add Edmundson to the lineup.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if all of the overpaid f*cks made it to the opening night roster with Evans being a healthy scratch.

The Habs will 100% be sellers at the deadline so I can't see any situation where bury Hoffman. We'll see though, I'm not sure where Dobby will be moved but I think he will be moved somewhere

I mean they will not be moving Hoffman regardless, he's pure garbage at this point. Like maybe if they can get the guy double retained but even that renders it quite pointless.

Byron stays on LTIR or go on waivers.

Edmundson's caphit is already counted in. Harris and/or Xhekaj can also be sent down.
