Caps decline, don't need Toews with the multitude of center prospects/depth in the organization. Trading for Toews would be just praying that he isn't last year Backstrom all over again, and there's no need for Washington to take that risk and give up one of only 2 consistent PK centers in the lineup and a 2nd.

Edmonton isn't moving Holloway. 2 firsts and foegele for 50% retention on Kane seems somewhat reasonable.

Washington and Edmonton would normally laugh in your face and hang up, but that $50 retention is just too good to pass up on
