Description
I doubt this is realistic but I'm curious to know what you guys think about this trade idea. Seattle gets a quality winger to play with Beniers and Boston get a good young center. Obviously Boston could their cap space to sign impact players in free agency like a top 6 center.

Probably not realistic but it’s a good idea if we can’t sign him. Probably add to it tho

Seattle isn’t moving Wright

Beniers Wright is going to be trouble for everyone

"Obviously Boston could their cap space to sign impact players in free agency like a top 6 center."

The C ufa class might be led by Monahan and Toews, maybe Horvat and perhaps Larkin. Toews and Monahan may have great seasons but even so, unless Horvat and Larkin make it there won't be too many C options.

If they are trading Pasta perhaps they can trade him prior to the draft for Horvat/Larkin+ assuming neither are signed/on a new team.

I know. Let me dream hahaha. Although Boston should really look to get a good young center in return of Pasta. Who comes up in your mind? I thought of Boldy or Rossi but Minny can't afford Pasta. Maybe Winnipeg could be a trade partner with Dubois and/or Lambert? Maybe the Kings with Byfield or Turcotte plus a winger like Arvidsson. I would structure it like: Arvidsson for Pasta and the difference is Turcotte/Byfield. Maybe LA could throw in a pick.

IF at the TDL Seattle is firmly in the playoff hunt they might do like Firkus+Eberle+2023 1st. Probably have to add one more piece. Wright isn't happening

Trading him at the draft though is pretty much trading his UFA rights and isnt gonna get you anything of value. On second read, are you saying the wings/b's or canucks/b's swap UFA rights? ive never really seen it, but its kinda interesting.

Value seems fair but Boston isn't interested in picks. They want prospect NHL ready or close to it.

Could be an exchange of rights (they won't get too much on top) or a sign and trade of Pastrnak(I don't see a double sign and trade happening, probably at best Boston is allowed to discuss a new contract with the pending ufa, of course that means thry would have to be satisfied with the rest of the package).

I just don't see Boston trading Pastrnak until the last minute if they don't have him signed. Chances are they sign him early 2023, if not in the next couple of weeks.

I don't know, look at LA. They are stacked at center position with Kopitar and Danault. Where is the place for Byfield AND Turcotte? They should definetly trade one of the two (probably Turcotte) in order to fill needs in other positions (wing, defense, goalie). I would even take Turcotte, Kupari and a 2023 first (if the cap works for LA)

Don't care, Seattle is in no place to trade Shane Wright. Pasta is good but he doesn't instantly make a fringe team a contender. He's a ppg forward that's going to be due 9-10M. Reality is if Boston is trading him it's probably because he wants to leave. In that case you just sign him as a FA. No one is trading a HAUL like ppl seem to be suggesting for pasta w/o an extension anyways

I'm in the turcotte is a bust boat, but yeah he might be one exception. I look at a team like Ottowa as pretty similar, and they didn't give Grieg/Pinto/etc to get cat. trading NHL ready 21 year olds on ELC's is just unlikley

Well, there’s some good stuff in here, and some very flawed logic. I was more commenting on the budget package for pasta. Agreed that seattle is in no position to move wright, unless they really hate his attitude. Pastrnak is a 26 year old who has led the NHL in goals. Yes, that does get a haul. Furthermore, the logic of, “oh, just go get him in FA,” is pretty flawed. Then you’re bidding against potentially 31 other teams.

A package of Firkus+Eberle+2023 1st+ is right on par with what Debrincat went for. There's no reason in my mind Pasta should return more than the cat did. Yes, I think he's a better player, but he's also a few years older and a pending UFA. That 100% factors into things

The draft pick was a known entity, and the biggest part of the trade. Seattles is not.
