why the hell would we trade for Kane when Laffy and Kakko are working great in the top 6?

the opportunity to acquire kane is something no one should pass up on especially for a cup run in 2023

yes, we should pass up on it. sure, he'd be nice, I think most teams could use Patrick kane, but it's a waste. we don't need a top 6 caliber player for one cup run, just to either play in the bottom 6, or force one of our other forwards to play in the bottom 6. that would be awful asset management. we'd be much better off keeping most of our assets, instead trading for a 3rd line caliber winger, and a reliable 3rd pairing dman to ensure we won't have to run with Hajek and Tinordi as our 3rd pair in case of injuries.

after all, you don't see tampa or colorado trading for 10M dollar star forwards, their trade deadline acquisitions are a lot more lowkey and focus on bringing in players for depth roles. you know, guys like Barclay Goodrow, Blake Coleman, and Nick Paul for Tampa, and players like Lekhonen and Manson for Colorado. Those are the kinds of additions that win cups.

Take out Robertson and add kakko to the trade. Laffy should not be getting anywhere near 7 mil. Closer to 4 mil on a bridge. And now you have enough to resign Kane. Just how it looks from an outsider.

Sure is getting tiresome shooting down the logic behind going "All In" on Kane at TDL. Excellent points about TBL and Avs TDL pickups- two of the best run organizations in the league. Its mind boggling how so many on this site- and how many hockey insiders- think that NYR pursuit of Kane is such a good idea. Short sighted moves is why this team has 1 Cup over the past 80 years- and due to the random nature of the way things swing in the playoffs, one or two bounces the other way and they wouldn't even have the '94 Cup to speak of!
