OTT declines, they want nothing to do with dumba

Dumba is under 30, very likely to receive a 3-4 year deal at around $6.5 (which fits well into their long term cap projections), and is objectively a better defenceman than Zaitsev, so why would Ottawa "want nothing to do with" him?

If the Senators were open to moving a 1st round pick and a 1st round prospect +++, they would probably have Chychrun now.

Dumba as a rental is not going to command that type of return. I understand the price is inflated because of Zaitsev.

Closer to the trade deadline, if the Senators pick is comfortably a playoff pick, then the trade might make a bit more sense.
