I will never stop beating the drum for Rikard Gronborg

I'm confident that when a coaching decision is inevitably made, it'll be the right one. I hate that Verbeek stuck with Eakins, but also understand that if the right guy isn't available, there's not much point in doing it. GM's have a couple of "coaching change" bullets in their guns, and making the wrong call on your first one is a good way to shorten your tenure. Eakins buys him an extra year.

Problem is that Eakins absolutely doesn't teach positive fundamentals. I have no problem with screwing around with the lineup, and trying different things, but last night was 100% the best example of why he shouldn't be coaching this team. Their PP and PK structures were (are) horrible, their zone entries are a mess, and for the 3rd year in a row their d-zone coverage is similar to that PP/PK drill that kids practice when they're learning how to run a powerplay and the defending players all have to flip their sticks upside down. Even in the Boston game last week, where the team fought their way into OT, he turned around an inexplicably through his favourite allstar Derek Grant out there for some good 'ol 3 on 3. Huge bogeys.

I recommend Mike babcock or Joel Quenneville

This team should be buying defense, not shuffling the deck chairs offensively (and paying a 1st for basically nothing).

Besides, Ken Holland has never traded a 1st for a rental. The Edmonton Oilers have never traded a 1st for a rental. John Klingberg isn't going to be the guy that changes their minds.

I do think edmonton takes a run at getting klingberg and shipping 1 player out though.

Not if a 1st is involved. There's not enough upside.

What are you seeing in Klingberg? He's an offensive defenseman who doesn't defend very well. Why does Edmonton even make that call? Do you think that's what the team needs?

All I'm seeing is DoD PTSD.

Been there, done that with Babs tears of joy I appreciate the heck out of him for abandoning the team a year after they made that Cinderella run to the finals. With Babs, they don't win that '07 cup.

Quenneville minus the baggage would be a great addition. That being said, keep that type of crap out of the org, thanks tears of joy

I just want someone that can play these young guys to their strengths. There is absolutely talent on that roster, and while it's certainly not playoff caliber (IMO), there's no excuse for the ridiculous usage, love of Derek Grant, or ridiculously poor defensive play that has been happening.

Hahaha, yeah I know. Sorry, sometimes the replies to sarcasm kinda negate them, which wasn't the intention hahaha.

I mean, I'm not super attached to Yamamoto, but if you're going to trade a young, cost-controlled 20 goal scorer for a rental, you'd better be getting something pretty substantial. Klingberg just doesn't cut it for me.

My thinking is that at 3RW I would rather have puljujarvi than yamamoto.

And? You didn't answer my question. You're the one proposing this trade, why are you willing to give up so much for him? His ability is well established, there's no excuse for you making a proposal that's a clear loss for Edmonton.

How does trading Yamamoto accomplish that?

i'm not entirely sure what a loss for Edmonton is, if Klingbergs play matched the hype then it is a win. If they fill a position of need well though then i would trade Yamamoto.

I don't think either is giving us what we need in the top 6.

Trading Yamamoto guarantees Puljujarvi a top-6 job though. I'm not following the logic.

The "hype"?? The guy has nearly a decade worth of track record in the NHL and you're going off hype? C'mon man, you're smarter than that.
