After recording 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists) through 46 games with the Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL) last season and picked up four goals and 12 assists in 19 playoff games, Hoefenmayer is an intriguing prospect. Signed only to an AHL deal, the former 4th round pick (2017) has progressed nicely, one of the few defensive prospect that has a really heavy shot from the point. Him and Marshall Raifi have been impressive to start the year.

Not a prospect and Super early but someone nobody is talking about who I feel Toronto should explore drafting in 2023 with one of the 3rd round picks

Would love to see some Ankle Breaking for the Leafs. Also feels like a Niemela like guy. Someone who will drop to the third round and be a steal

I definitely wouldn’t say no one is taking about him, Smaht has him going 13th overall in his preliminary rankings. McKeens has him 23 and FC Hockey at 59.

But agreed, he has a really nice game. But IMO there are far greater offensive forwards to be had in the 1st round next year. They need a dynamic Center badly.

Don’t totally love Wes Clark’s direction taken last year. Hate seeing the Leafs pass on Lane Hutson and Jordan Dumais

When u go to elite prospects only 2 places got him ranked and I think 2 guys have talked about him but the big scouts be just dying over Bedard which is fine but give other kids a chance. Only saw one talk about him which is funny as ankle breaking aint an easy skill

As for the others while not getting Hutson was a blow to miss so far the 2022 draft guys we have selected have been good.

Nikita Grebyonkin is someone I have been watching as to me he could be a fun bottom 6 for us in 2 years

why next season after their seasons in Liiga and KHL end

Roni Hirvonen, Topi Niemela, and Nikita Grebenkin could be with the Marlies by March/April

Would like those Russian goalies play at higher level next season. The KHL would be best cause I don't think they would see the net much with Marlies. But KHL teams seem not want to "develop" NHL draftees.

Smaht is legit, he has him 13th.

Nikita Grebyonkin is definitely interesting, knew nothing about him but early returns are nice.

Could very well be a very useful bottom 6er or Yegor Korshkov

Oh Peska and Akhtiamov should stay in the KHL as we got a logjam rn in the AHL/ECHL

Cavellin, McKay, Woll, and Petruzelli all have been solid for us and I want to see more. Let them develop in Russia and if one shows promise bring em over

The stupid thing with Korshkov is if he stayed he would probs be in the bottom 6 rn (probs 4th line) I really believe that

My fear is hes gonna get packaged off in a trade to bring someone in at the TDL. Now that someone is gonna be most likely be pretty dam good but still gonna hurt see him go as when we got him I said watch him be a steal... wink

Still having fun watching him though

His OT was nuts to bad he could not burry that backhand.

But man this is a guy I am fully okay with burning a year of his ELC. To me this is a guy who can come play and take Kerfoot's spot away. Robertson can have Malgin's spot and we can make a kids line

If all goes well could sneak him in as Ottawa's 3rd will be pretty high based on where they are going rn. Or we can use the 2 3rds and trade up if absolutely necessary.

But this is someone I want in our pool

And there's another guy falling amongst the ranks and if all goes well if we cant get this guy we could potentially get Cameron Allen. While he was originally ranked high his recent play has caused concerns. While yeah I dont think he drops to the third round if Dubas does keep our 1st he is an option (doubtful that happens though)
