Dumba to Leafs

Description
Leafs need RHD and a 4th line center. Wild need to get return on Dumba not just lose him for nothing, and need expansion exempt players. Seems like a good fit to me and fairly even value. The Girardi/Pominville deal is a shot in the dark and will not happen... but I thought it was logical since Wild will be losing a RHD in Dumba and really need to clear space in the forward position with Eriksson Ek, Tuch, Kunin, and in this case Kapanen coming. (Also saves 100,000 per year BUT adds a year of term). 99.9999999% chance that deal would never happen.

I don't think so based on the explanation. This is going to go straight to Leafs fans heads...

Any trade for Girardi just feels wrong, that's like wanting Dustin Brown on your team.

Huge overpay for a decent prospect, but still a prospect.

Completely agree that he's a decent prospect. Not even close to what it would take for Dumba though.

Just because the wild are in a tough spot does not mean there would be no market for Dumba, Kapanen is not good enough to land you Dumba and a bunch of other teams would offer something much better so no chance on this deal.

You are overvaluing Dumba and undervaluing Kapanen. Like I said the Girardi deal doesn't make sense and would never happen, just throwing out ideas in May. Good thing this is armchair GM, am I right?

As a leaf fan, I'd be okay if this deal never happened. Dumba is a decent defensemen, but his ideal usage is basically the same as Zaitsev. In order to truly maximize either player, the other would suffer. Better off leaving the players where they are.

Wild are likely to lose a NHL Dman in the draft. By trading Dumba now they lost two.
