Completely Remaking the Islanders

Created by: IslesHockey
Team: 2017-18 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: May 29, 2017
Published: May 29, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously none of this will happen. This is just my hypothetical if say Garth starts the rebuild allover or if he gets fired a new GM wants to start from scratch with young talent to ensure consistent playoff runs in the coming years.

I don't know if the values there for any of these, if its too much or too little but yeah, I was really bored.
Please dont comment with sh** like that would never happen, cause I obviously know that, let me know how I did on values though.

Sorokin and Soderstrom obviously aren't playing next year, just put them in to show the franchise goalie's they're both projected to be and that the Isles dont need to trade for one.

Washington doesn't make that trade. Last thing they wanna do is get rid of our young budding stars, which Burakovsky fits under that category. He may not be as good as Ovechkin, but he and Kuznetsov will become the faces of the franchise once AO8 and NB19 call it quits.

Why do Isles fan think, one year of Tavares is worth so much. I know points are everything but last year.....Tavares 66 points, Nylander 61.

Because Isles fans know any trade with Tavares is going to be a sign an trade.

Yes, it is laughable. Tavares has gone this far , why should he limit his options in a "sign and trade"? Leafs can't afford Tavares in a few years or want to.

He has a modified NTC, I can guarantee you he will get traded if he decides not to sign. And get this, on a modified NTC, the player getting traded gets to essentially pick where he wants to go. So explain to me why he would "limit" his options to a sign and trade when he already wants to go to whatever team he's traded to?

It's really quite easy. He may agree to a trade, let's imagine at the TDL, if the Isles are out the race. Doesn't mean at all, that he would sign an extension for that team.
For example, Pens, Ligntning are on a Cup run. They would like Tavares for 6 weeks and the regular season and the playoffs. These teams can't afford to sign JT long term. But JT might agree to be traded to those teams.

So JT has lots of options, but picking a "sign and trade" might be one of the less desirable to him then many others. Maybe it's a trade to contender, and he comes back to the Isles as a UFA would even seem more likely.

I cant see Tavares being used as a rental then coming back to NYI. I think if he truly wants to explore his options, he's gone before the season starts on a sign and trade. No use keeping a guy that doesnt want to be here and shipping him out as a rental when you can get so much more trading him before the season on a sign and trade. And Tavares isnt the type of guy to just want to bounce around the league. He's as loyal a player as any and takes pride in that. If he wants to leave, he'll be going to a place where he wants to stay longer term.

when u play with josh bailey and u make andres lee a 34 goal scorer it rlly doesnt matter. Name one proven linemate hes had. Remember Okposo played with Nielsen not Tavares for most of his Isles career

                  laughable

when u play with josh bailey and u make andres lee a 34 goal scorer it rlly doesnt matter. Name one proven linemate hes had. Remember Okposo played with Nielsen not Tavares for most of his Isles career

he did have vanek for like 45 games in 2014 and those 2 together im pretty sure were the highest scoring duo in the league for those 40 something games. Crazy what Tavares can do with just 1 good winger if he can get one.
