If the Leafs are trading firsts, it's gotta be for major impact players. I like Murphy and he can eat up minutes, but he's not enough of a difference maker

Could go either way. Either a second or a first-round pick IMO. Right-handed shot defenseman are extremely valuable, and you are also paying the hawks to take on holl's $2 million cab hit, while having the Hawks retain Murphy at 50% for three more seasons.

Definitely not saying that he's not worth a first (esp with 50% retention) but the Leafs have traded way too many first rounders over the years and currently have too many holes to spend one on a rental that won't go a long way to fixing the problem. Teams like BOS / CAR / EDM / CAL / VEG will give that up (maybe not CAL, cause their D is pretty solid barring injury)

Calgary needs top a 6 RW not yet another extra defenseman. We're looking to trade a defenseman or two not take on more!

I've got this great up and coming winger that will fit in perfectly in your top 6. You never have to worry about him getting injured, cause he doesn't go into the corners, and he can always see the puck due to his height and long neck. A 4th rounder and he's all yours!

Other than the "up and coming" bit that sounds like Nylander. We'd do better than a 4th for him but you'd have to take Toffoli in return.

Taking Toffoli would be non negotiable. About the only way we'd want Nylander is if he's replacing Toffoli.

Ah well Engvall for Toffoli you'll have to be adding a pair of seconds or something. Make it a first and we could probably throw in Meloche, a RD who's cheaper and more physical than Holl (or any other Leaf's defenseman for that matter).

More realistically it'd be back to Nylander but like I said you'd have to take Toffoli as part of the return. Nylander is a little soft but if anyone can fix that it's Daryll Sutter and in any case Nylander would be an upgrade over Toffoli when it comes to speed and playmaking ability. Toronto would probably ask for too much to do that trade though.

What do you think it would take, Nylander for Toffoli + what else?
