Lineup after next loss

Created by: MartysBetter29
Team: 2022-23 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 4, 2022

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Totally understand Lindy rolling with the lineup while they are on a winning streak. But there are a few glaring weaknesses, namely Smith on LD and a lack of finishing in the top 6 on offense. Give Holtz one more chance with a wingmate he is familiar with from Utica and the best player on the team #13. Bahl slides in for Smith.

Not sure about the logic of playing him with Zetterlund. Holtz's problem more than anything is not being comfortable in the system, not team chemistry. Zetterlund has also shown that he's willing to just pepper the net with shots, which is something I like about him. But if he's on a line with Holtz, you'd rather have Holtz taking those shots.

And if it's about chemistry, he's trained with Bratt two summers in a row.

I do hope we see Bahl and Holtz in the lineup soon though. I like Smith as a vet, but he's a guy that should be playing 1/3 games, not 4/5.

Definitely could be a good call. Thought about that too. Putting Holtz with Hischier and Bratt is giving him the best opportunity, if he cant play with those two he probably needs to go down to the A

I would echo this. It’s seems like a confidence/comfort thing. Lindy keeps talking about Holtz needing to “play faster” but it sounds like he wants him to let loose and take risks (or at least gain the confidence to try). And that they have seen it in practice, just not in games.

Would like to see him with Nico for that reason. Nico plays so well in all areas it should allow Holtz to focus on the offense and get open for shots. Putting him with hischier and bratt is giving him every opportunity to succeed

Playing with Bratt and Hischier would probably help. But I would rather see him get more than 1-game commitment at a time. Even if he goes to 3rd line, give him 10 games or until Palat returns to figure out.

Agreed on that for sure. I get not changing the lineup while we are on a heater but when (if?) he draws in again, hope it will be more than a game or two
