If they are trading with Detroit, then they need ROR to be traded for ROR.... St-louis has a requirement of 1 O'Reilly needing to be in the system at all times.

Other than Johansson, who I don't think we should trade, the second is the only real value. Likely a playoff team offers a first and a similar prospect and that whole package is outbid. I would personally take 1 first and a similar prospect to Johansson over that package.

Or Detroit could just sign ROR as a UFA. He's an Ontario boy so Toronto might be #1 on his UFA list. But the Leafs are already top heavy in their studs and duds capology. They're going to want to get Matthews signed long term. Detroit isn't far from Ontario. I can't see him returning to Buffalo. But I can't see Stevie giving ROR a retirement contract either.
