I had a similar idea as well, but Johansen is a considerable downgrade on Miller. I know Miller isn't playing his best right now but he's shown the ability to be one of the best drivers in the NHL before this year and is still PPG on the year. He has another level.

Have you ever seen a deal that appears too good to be true so it immediately makes you think "ok... whats wrong with it?" Thats this deal. Johansen in a good season is a 60 point center and is slightly overpaid. Miller is about a point per game for 4 seasons so on the surface this season like a downgrade for the canucks at the cost of only a mid round pick for nashville.

I dont watch the canucks so this makes me think theres something pretty off-putting about millers play

You’re a smart one, spot on! I think the intensity Johansen plays with (while not as skilled as Miller) is the exact issue the Canucks have had with Miller on the ice. Phenomenal hockey player but I think he needs a more structured/veteran environment.

I actually kind of like this deal for Van. Miller is definitely the better player but the locker room needs a turnover and with his NMC and new contract kicking in July 1st his value will be diminished.
