Not sure that's enough value for Gaudreau, even with the 1st overall pick coming back.

MTL trade is a tough one. I think people are over-blowing the relationship between Price and MTL...with Weber in front of him, I think he quite likes it there. It's an interesting offer, but probably light for a Top 3 goalie in the world (when healthy).

Clutterbuck / Boyle / Ferland would be a terrifying line to play against....but maybe less scary than the remaining 5 years on that Clutterbuck contract. CGY would only consider if NYI agreed to retain some $, and that's a tough ask for 5 years.

What about Gaudreau going to NYI for Tavares as starting points for a package deal, subject to Tavares signing an extension in CGY on July 1st?

I don't know that Gaudreau going forward has much more value than he would right now. Appeal for the Devils to make the deal would be getting a young exciting "HOMEGROWN" NHL'er right now. Would surely help sell tickets in a generally tough market given the teams recent history. Plus JG has clearly proven he's not a playoff type player. When the games get tighter and more physical, I just don't see him being a valuable piece (my opinion).

Not sure about Price, but just get this feeling that he will tire of the environment soon and realize he'd be better off in a new market.

Gaudreau for Tavares is another workable option. Definitely a trade that would need to be made this summer before the season starts and JT decides to ride out the season before hitting the open market. Which would mean he would certainly have more than his share of suitors, most likely the Leafs.

Chances are none of this will actually happen, but it's fun to pretend for a while.
