laugh laugh That doesn't get Jakob Chychrun at full value, Let alone at 50% retained. This trade would easily be beaten by other clubs.

Kerfoot holds zero value, Niemela might be a bluechip prospect but with the late 1st round picks. Yeah sorry not going to cut it. Ottawa would offer far better than this.

Arizona is literally asking for 2 first for Chychrun. This includes a blue chip prospect in Niemela and an asset Arizona could flip for a mid round pick. Obviously Ottawa is NOT willing to beat this, or else it would be already done.

Leafs aren't giving up all that for a short improvement. Brodie is returning soon, and Reilly in six weeks.
Other Dmen have been injured in the league this season, but teams use their own players to fill the role, not panic buy.

I'm happy to get roasted on this as I haven't really seen the guy play much since the Coyotes don't really get covered too much. Am I the only one that doesn't understand why he's valued so high? Is there some advanced metrics where he measures in top 5 defensive categories or something? Purely looking at his stats is fairly underwhelming and his cap hit at $4.6m isn't all that appealing considering how strapped the Leafs are. I get that he's young and has term but can someone enlighten me why he would be worth two firsts ++?

Same reason why Hagel was worth 2 1sts.

It's not a panic buy. He's got 2 more years on his contract. Similar to Tampa trading for Hagel.
